About Janie’s Home
A small home on the water, where six residents are known by name.
Since 2010, we've opened our home to older adults and the families who love them. We're a licensed six-bed residential care facility in Foster City — small by design, because we believe the best care happens when caregivers know every resident's history, preferences, and rhythms, not just their care plan.
Our Story
Janie's Home began the way most family businesses do: with one family trying to do right by someone they loved, and realizing they could do the same for others.
Over the years, we've cared for residents through every stage — those who needed a little help getting the day started, and those who needed us close by around the clock. What we've learned in that time is simple: aging well isn't about facilities or amenities. It's about being somewhere you're known.
Our home sits on a quiet cul-de-sac beside the water. Mornings are peaceful. Afternoons are unhurried. Residents take their coffee on the deck and watch the light change on the lagoon. It's the kind of place we'd want for our own parents — which is exactly how we came to run it.
-
To provide older adults with attentive, dignified care in a true home setting — where each resident is known as a person, supported by caregivers who see them daily, and surrounded by a family that includes their own.
-
A community where growing older doesn't mean leaving home behind. We work toward a standard of residential care in which every older adult lives with dignity, comfort, and genuine connection, and every family feels confident and informed about the care their loved one receives.

Small is better. Six residents means our caregivers know each person — how they take their tea, when they get restless, what makes them laugh. That kind of attention isn't possible at scale.
Families are partners. You know your parent better than we ever will. We keep you informed, ask what you think, and make decisions together.
Dignity comes first. Every task, from a morning shower to a hard conversation, gets handled with respect for the person in front of us.
Home means home. Real meals, real routines, familiar faces. Not a schedule, a household.
We're licensed by the California Department of Social Services as a Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE #415600809). That means we provide personal care, supervision, and help with the activities of daily living in a residential setting. We are not a skilled nursing facility and do not provide 24-hour skilled nursing care, though we coordinate closely with outside physicians, home health, and hospice providers so residents can stay in familiar surroundings as their needs change.
Come See For Yourself
The best way to understand a home is to stand in it. We'd love to show you around — the rooms, the deck, the water — and answer whatever questions you have.
